About Phantomfest
The Team
Are long experienced paranormal investigators, from a well established Paranormal Group based in Cheltenham Gloucestershire, as part of that group they have organised and conducted many investigations in and around Gloucestershire and surrounding areas.
The Idea
In 2005 before PhantomFest was even thought of, an event took place near Oxfordshire in the UK. called Ghost Fest, some of the now PhantomFest team went along to this event and came back talking about how good it was or at least how good it should've been, unfortunately the event was let down somewhat by the guest speakers who didn't turn up, but fortunately some of the guests themselves stood in and helped to keep the event going and run relatively smoothly,
the team enjoyed what there was and came back contented, however as it turned out it was the only Ghost Fest to take place and the organisers didn't plan any further events, which was a shame.
It was some months later that one of our team came back from holiday with a master plan, the idea was this "Why don't we do our own Ghost Fest for 2006", seeing as an event didn't seem to be planned by the previous organisers for that year, there were discussions and we decided it was a good idea, after all it would only be a one of until the real Ghost Fest came back, a few further talks and the name PhantomFest was chosen and we started looking for a location to host the event, after asking around we found that we could use the Guild Hall in Gloucester, so we started making arrangements, However unknown to us at that time, our plans were soon to take an unexpected turn.
The Castle
One of our Cheltenham members who does a lot of T.V.and media work was asked if he could meet up with a film crew and give his opinion on an old Castle in St Briavels Gloucestershire. as he's not a driver he asked a few members for a lift, so they picked him up on the day and they all went along to the castle, as it turned out some interesting things happened whilst they were there, some weeks later Bruce joined them on a visit to the castle and on seeing it suggested that it would be the ideal place for the PhantomFest event, after some discussion with the managers at the Castle, arrangements were made and PhantomFest was ready to go.
For those of you interested in history, The Castle dates back to 1205 and was built as King Johns hunting lodge and that is about as far as the history lesson goes on this website, for more information we recommend you come along to the castle and see for yourselves.
PhantomFest has grown since then and the people still keep coming, we try our best to make the event enjoyable and informative, and we find our guests return again and again travelling not just from the UK. but even as far away as Canada and Sweden. The PhantomFest Team are still keen to run the events and expect to go on for some time yet, so if you want to try an event with a difference then come along and join us for a fun filled night of ghost hunting in a real haunted Castle.
